Our Choices Have Eternal Consequences: Sowing in Love

Deborah

November 13, 2025

God is love. And because He is love, He rewards us for our love. We show our love for Him when we stop to help and support others along the way.

It’s easy to get lost in our own lives, but the Bible is clear that our choices have eternal consequences. Every day, we are sowing seeds.

“Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.” (Galatians 6:7-8, NKJV)

What does it mean to “sow to the Spirit”? It means showing mercy and love, just as God shows us. It’s a physical, daily choice.

When we choose to not include God in our daily lives, we suffer the consequences. But when we start with a desire to please Him, and we nourish that desire with thanksgiving and positive confessions, our path changes. We start to see the intersections in life where we can make a difference.

Christ showed us exactly what this looks like. In His parable of the Sheep and the Goats, our eternal life was tied to simple, loving actions:

“For I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in… Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me. (Matthew 25:35, 40 NKJV)

This is the key. Sowing to the Spirit is sowing acts of love.

  • “I was hungry…” We sow to the Spirit when we support a local food bank.
  • “I was a stranger…” We sow to the Spirit when we welcome a new family.
  • “I was sick…” We sow to the Spirit when we visit a neighbor in the hospital.

Remember, God is love. When you show mercy, you are showing Him. He sees your love and He will reward you for it. Your choices today are planting the seeds for your eternal harvest.
